Shield는 장비가 아니라, 대량 트래픽 공격(DDoS)으로부터 계정을 지켜주는 관리형 방어 서비스입니다. Standard는 모든 건물에 기본으로 설치된 셔터 같은 무료 기본 방어이고, Advanced는 여기에 더해 유료로 전담 보안팀을 상시 대기시켜 놓는 것과 같습니다.

Shield Standard는 모든 AWS 고객에게 무료로 L3/L4 DDoS 방어를 제공합니다. Shield Advanced는 월정액으로 대규모 공격 대응팀, 비용 급증 보호, 상세 진단을 추가합니다.
동작 원리 / How it works
Shield Standard는 모든 AWS 고객에게 자동 적용되는 L3/L4 DDoS 방어로, SYN 플러드나 UDP 반사 공격 같은 흔한 볼륨 공격을 엣지에서 흡수합니다. 별도 설정도 요금도 없습니다.
Shield Advanced는 월 정액에 대응 팀(SRT) 지원, 공격 중 상세 진단, 그리고 공격으로 인해 발생한 확장 비용 환급(cost protection)을 추가합니다. WAF 요금이 포함되고 Route 53·CloudFront·ALB·NLB·Elastic IP에 적용됩니다.

동작 원리 / How it works
Shield Standard is automatic L3/L4 DDoS protection for every AWS customer, absorbing common volumetric attacks such as SYN floods and UDP reflection at the edge, with no configuration and no charge.
Shield Advanced adds, for a monthly fee, Shield Response Team support, detailed diagnostics during an attack, and cost protection reimbursing scaling charges caused by an attack. It includes WAF fees and covers Route 53, CloudFront, ALB, NLB, and Elastic IPs.
